Okay, so Iowa is landlocked. Well, it’s bordered by the Mississippi River, but it’s a long way to the Gulf of Mexico and nobody shouts ‘ahoy!’ from a river. Regardless, Iowa is where I’m headed this August as part of the 2011International Writing Program. I’ll be spending three months in residence at the beautiful University of Iowa, working on a new collection of short stories and feeling slightly bewildered.
